Repair/Unbrick ASUS Z00AD (ZE551ML) - Replace eMMC

Asus Zenfone 2 Z00AD is Intel Moorefield based Devices.

Case: Zenfone 2 Z00AD hang logo problem, the problem remain exists after flashing
Lets take a look at tutorial how to replace eMMC of Intel Moorfield based device below.

Remove the old eMMC, backup ext_csd, boot 1, boot2, and 256MiB of userarea.

Prepare new blank eMMC, using Samsung KMVTU000LM-B503 (16) BGA153 or you can use Samsung KLMBG for 32GB size, and re-write your previous backup, and resolder the new eMMC to the board. Assemby the phone.

Device should be detected by Windows after connecting to USB port, recognized as Moorefield Device.
The provisioning task in this case (replace eMMC) will be performed twice.
First is to use "ZE551ML_debrick_secure_V2 00_sec_xfstk(New eMMC)", after provisioning device will boot, and shows USB Logo.
Followed by "ZE551ML_debrick_secure sec_xfstk", after finish, device shoud enter Fastboot Mode.

Last Step, Flashing with raw/zip firmware.

Congratulations, you just revive Zenfone 2 Z00AD by downgrading storage to 16 GB 😄

Hi madgoeslim, I met a problem that I damaged the motherboard of the ZE550ML, and I need to export the data of my phone so I bought another brand new ZE551ML, and replaced the eMMC chip from ZM550ML to ZE551ML, and after powered on it shows the Moorefield device.
I would like to know, is that the problem different module of the phone won't be startup? If I do the same as your post, enter into fastboot, does it possible to exporting my data in eMMC?
Or does it work if I buy other same ZE550ML to replace the eMMC chip without change any files?

To recover user data from the old emmc, you can try the following task.
1. Make userdata backup from the old eMMC
2. Use provisioning/debrick task same like above tutorial. If debrick doesnt work, you may have to use new eMMC
3. After debrick, flash the phone with the same firmware version as the old one
4. After successful boot, open up the phone and take out eMMC and write the old userdata backup

I'm not sure how to backup the data from old eMMC because I can not get the phone startup after I replaced the old eMMC (from broken motherboard phone) to a new working model phone(ZE550ML to ZE551ML). Moorefield driver only with black screen.
If I replace the old eMMC to a new phone with same model will make it working without any addition steps?

nov30th You can not "Just" move or replace the eMMC from one device to another, especially Moorefield Devices. As explained in the tutorial above, this device need twice debrick to reprogramming the eMMC.
Reply from zegobit is very clear how to did that. Make "userdata" backup, means only read userdata partition in old eMMC, via UFI eMMC Toolbox, in "User Partition Tab".

rahmanluthfi Emmc in this device not protected by hard glue, can easy remove by hot air. ISP in this device I believe will wasting your time, and can damage other part when you con solder properly. So, better reprograming the chip by chip off methode then ISP.

write ifwi, dnx and fastboot files - ok
but phone dont enter in fastboot, reboot on striped flag

why?

Hello,
It seems like connection problem, please make sure the battery at least in 50% of charge. Try using different USB data cable, and avoid using usb hub for better connection.
