That depends on the condition of the eMMC itself.
Some devices may only lose the bootloader area so device bricked, which might be possible to repair via ISP methode, and the chip doesn't need to be changed.
But, when emmc is damage, like can't init, can't read or can't write, it must be replace by new one.
